Ian Rappaport's report that the Raiders are to give Derek Carr a contract extension is news to be welcomed.
I'm not necessarily a 'Carr Stan' but I am a realist. While Derek Carr is no Josh Allen or Pat Mahomes he is assuredly a top tier QB
Carr is a top 10 to 15 QB on an average season, and a 5 to 10 QB on a good one. Last season he won clutch games galore. Statistically he fell away in the latter part of the season but the absence of Darren Waller through injury and Henry Ruggs through tragedy can partially explain this drop off.
I predict Derek Carr will get a contract in the region of $100m over 3 years with $65m guaranteed and the Raiders solidify the most important position in the team for the foreseeable future.
