Triquetra

Mar 07, 2021

I'm making a liar of myself by putting this under the "Paint" category because if you look closely, you can see the grimy smudges known all too well to be oil pastels. This was a quick Sunday morning shindig with the sun rise shining through the blinds which was cool, but like I wish the damn dog wouldn't have woken me up at 6:30 and I was still in bed!

I recently watched "Dark" on Netflix which has had me thinking a lot about the connection/flow between past, present, and future. I have also been reading about Norse mythology (since you know I'm making mead, more on that in another post!) and looking at woodworking pictures that include that same Triquetra from the show. Nowadays the Triquetra is commonly seen as a representation of the Holy Trinity in Christianity. However, it has been found in ceramics from 4th Century B.C. Anatolia and Persia along with Iron Age Germanic and Celtic runes. I like how the old Germanic symbols flow in interlocking patterns. I have also been practicing my color wheel shading with acrylics and thought that the geometric flow of the symbol along with the transition of color would be a slimy combo. The adventure and sagas associated with these old cultures is appealing to me...but like we have modern medicine and indoor plumbing now so...
