Finding Tranquility Amidst the Hustle of NYC

Mar 22, 2023

Dear friends,

I hope this message finds you well. As some of you may know, I'm currently in New York City for the UN 2023 Water Conference. It has been a whirlwind of a trip so far, with long conference days, moderating a meeting, lots of networking, dinners with new and old friends from the water community, and, just minutes ago, a television interview.

However, when I'm not fully immersed in the conference, I've had the chance to explore the city a bit and take in some of the sights.

As you may remember from earlier writings, one of my favorite places to visit in New York City is Central Park. Despite being in the middle of a bustling city, the park offers a tranquil escape from the noise and chaos of the city streets. Unlike snowy Ottawa, I already saw the first flowers (but just like in Ottawa, I saw many squirrels). I had the chance to take a leisurely stroll through the park on my first day here, and it was such a peaceful experience. I highly recommend taking a break from an NYC conference and checking out Central Park.

In the evenings, when I walk back to my hotel from the UN, I always pass through the colorful Broadway area. The city's lights and energy at night are unique, and I couldn't resist snapping a few photos to share with you all. There's something magical about New York City at night; I feel lucky to experience it firsthand.

My time in New York City is busy and exhilarating. The conference is an excellent opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals and learn more about the critical work being done to reach the goals of Agenda 2030. But I also appreciate exploring the city and taking in some of its iconic sights.

Thank you for being so supportive, and I look forward to catching up with you all soon. I have more travel planned for the second half of April.

Enjoy this post?
