She rocked her body back and forth, squirming against the floor, trying to catch some sense of stability and solidness from it. ‘It’s like I have a fucking sinkhole inside my chest draining everything to fill up, to clog itself shut, but it never has enough. And it only ends up eating everything away.’ She stared, eyes peeled. ‘Eating life away.’


She felt her heart hammering away like an overzealous gavel. ‘Are you sad too little one? See what your blood has fueled? What your beats have sentenced?’ She listened to the muffled thuds, eruptions of thunder far away yet so close. ‘Yet you still sentence me to more life?’
