When the enemy comes at me, screaming the lie that I need to pay for my own sins, Would the power of your blood speak a better word. Beloved, self harm is a lie encouraged by hell itself. For the lies of the enemy are hellbent on making you believe you are not made in His image. They want nothing more than the destruction of that image. To tears the flesh and spill the blood. Because after all, you’ve sinned. And sins should be paid for. Beloved child of God, I agree. But here is the truth on paying for your sins. It’s already paid. Every sin that was, and every sin to come. Paid in full by the reckless devotion of our King Jesus. It doesn’t make sense, but it is good. Self harm wants nothing more than for you to take on that payment for yourself. It wants you to pay the price that Christ already bought. It wants you to take His place. It’s idolatry. It’s making your issues bigger than His goodness. The love of God does not ask that you harm yourself, Just that you die to yourself. Die to the flesh that He put on the cross. The flesh that wants to drag you down with it. Die to the old ways. For you are a new creation. New creations don’t get caught in old lies. But they are found in His mercies that are new every morning. For if you cannot find the goodness within yourself, Look at Him. For He is the goodness within yourself.
