With over 15k views (5/27) and over 100 downloads, my emotion cards have done way better than I ever expected. I am truly humbled that my work resonates with so many people. If you don't know me, my name is J de laVega. I am an author-illustrator living in Southern California. My work primarily focuses on diversity, culture, and normalizing the magic in everyday lived experiences that have not been capitalized on to be seen as the norm.
I've written one middle-grade novel titled Peter Tulliver and the City of Monsters, and am reworking my picture book series called Petunia Brown. I am also being published by the lovely humans at The Little Press for my Annalise Series (Annalise's Special Dish, Spring 2023).
When I'm not doodling or making up worlds I'm wrangling my two kids, partner, and dog. The most important part of my writing is to create books I didn't get to enjoy growing up. I love reading and art, as does my little family. I believe both things create magic and build bridges of understanding.
