I am an over-educated sociologist, a stone butch, white, and poor. My writing includes essays about race, class, and queer politics, and stories about my life.
I wanted to be a writer when I grew up. In that childhood time when it seems like imagination means artistic genius, I was sure that it was possible. When I read, I knew that those worlds were inside of me, too.
I found of course, that in the real world, it's difficult to make a living by telling stories. So for years, doing sociological research, I told other people's stories, in the language of social science.
It wasn't enough. There are other stories that I want to tell, and more immediate conversations in which I want to engage.
I post essays and memoirs. My writing is good. On rare occasion, it's even beautiful.
Thank you for reading my writing. Please consider buying me a coffee to support it.
