🇺🇸 Ah, that feeling when you end up right where you started…! Going full circle isn’t necessarily always a bad thing, but it usually means you go back to your original situation or attitude, especially after going through a lot of changes in between. Maybe you grew up in a rural area and decided to move to a city, and then to a bigger city, and finally to a sprawling metropolis — only to find out you like the peace and quiet of the countryside better and move back there after retirement. Also, fashion tends to go (or come) full circle every few decades…
🇩🇪 “Sich im Kreis drehen” ist vielleicht naheliegend, allerdings im Deutschen eher negativ konnotiert und daher nicht das, was diese Redewendung aussagt (das wäre eher “going in circles”). Manchmal schließt sich der Kreis einfach nur ohne Wertung. Oder wir kehren wieder zum Ausgangspunkt zurück.
