AT&T and Google Cloud Colludes to Deliver 5G Edge Computing Solutions

Mar 09, 2020

Modern AT&T and Google Cloud technologies help companies to address real business challenges by bringing Google Cloud to the AT&T edge

Google Cloud and AT&T have recently announced a collaboration to help companies leverage the technologies and capabilities of Google Cloud using edge AT&T network connectivity including 5G.

In addition, AT&T and Google Cloud plan to propose a portfolio of 5G edge computing solutions that incorporate AT&T's network, Google Cloud's technology, and cutting-edge computing to help businesses solve real business challenges.

Both edge computing systems will be operated by the network of AT&T and will use the core features of Google Cloud in Kubernetes, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML), Data and Analytics, as well as other leading global footprint technologies.

Through moving Google Cloud to the cutting edge of computing and technologies, companies can shift technology from centralized locations to those edges and run applications closer to end-users, reducing latency, optimizing operations, providing greater security and delivering compelling, disruptive end-user experiences.

“We are delighted to work with AT&T, a 5G leader, to help enterprises and the industry harness the potential of 5G,” said Thomas Kurian, CEO, Google Cloud. “Our co-innovation with AT&T aims to bring a multitude of 5G and Edge Computing solutions to address a diversity of use cases, driving real business value in industries like retail, manufacturing, gaming and more. We are deeply committed to helping drive positive business outcomes for enterprises by working with AT&T on 5G.”

“We’re working with Google Cloud to deliver the next generation of cloud services,” said Mo Katibeh, EVP and CMO, AT&T Business. “Combining AT&T’s network edge, including 5G, with Google Cloud’s edge compute technologies can unlock the cloud’s true potential. This work is bringing us closer to a reality where cloud and edge technologies give businesses the tools to create a whole new world of experiences for their customers.”

Such edge computing systems will cover a range of industries, including manufacturing, retail, transportation, 5G local business, and gaming. Google Cloud and AT&T are moving beyond abstract by solving real-world market problems and opportunities by identifying and implementing these solutions for enterprise customers.

In addition to introducing new technologies, Google Cloud and AT&T will collaborate together to enable independent software suppliers, service providers, developers and other technology companies to use Google Cloud, the AT&T Network Edge and their own resources to develop new solutions.
