Prologue - You Can't Run From Your Fate.
"You're supposed to throw the coin into the pond, mister. Not stare at it."
Taehyung glanced to his side. The young girl standing next to him was surely a stranger. But her doe eyes felt very familiar. Too familiar.
"Really?" Taehyung absentmindedly turned the coin in his palm. "Will it grant my wish?"
"Yep." The girl gave a radiant smile, making Taehyung stare at her for a few more seconds. Those bunny teeth were familiar too.
"Daddy says if we wish for something with our whole heart, it will definitely be granted. It might take time though, so you have to be patient."
"Your father sounds like a very smart man."
"He is." The girl smiled again. "He's the smartest. And the kindest."
"Is he now?" The girl's palm felt very warm against the coldness in the air, when they shook hands. "What's your name, darling?"
"I'm Aera. Jeon Aera."
At this moment, Taehyung's heart was beating so fast that he felt like he might black out any second. Well, he can't let that happen. He spent years and years, looking for answers. He's not gonna back out now.
"A-and what's your father's name?"
"Jeon Jungkook-"
"-Aera!!"
Even before Taehyung turned to look at the direction that sound came from, he knew who it was. It's the same voice that is echoing in his dreams and nightmares alike.
And there stood the boy he once loved. The boy he lost. The boy who left him without a trace.
Jungkook didn't have his baby cheeks anymore. Instead, he had a jawline that could cut you. His features were more sharp and defined. But the most noticeable one was his eyes. It didn't have that innocent and shy look anymore.
Now, those doe eyes looked terrified.
