Book Promotion Tip #3: Stop Re-Inventing the Wheel

Feb 18, 2022

One reason why writers I talk with say they don't promote their books is because it takes so much time.

I get it. Promotion and social media can turn into a tremendous time-suck.

We'd rather be writing, right?

That's why I'm HUGE on doing everything as efficiently as possible. I'm constantly looking for ways to get more done. The key to getting more done is to get everything done as quickly as possible so we can move on to the next task, the next must-do, or the next fun project.

I've been doing this long enough that I've found a ton of ways to get more efficient and save time. I can't wait to share these time-saving book-promoting tips with you. So let's start.

This is my biggest, favorite-est Tip ever: stop creating a new message every time you post on social media about your book. This equates to re-inventing your message(s) every time you post. Instead, STORE and SAVE your posts. Then you can use them over and over.

Duh. Right?

Now, I have lots more tips about how to store and save your posts. How to get and stay organized. How to find what you need when you need it. What, exactly, to create that you can store and save. And so much more. We'll get to that in future Tips. For now...

Take those messages you made in Tip #2, and those "why you wrote your book" ideas you wrote down in Tip #1, and put them all in the same place. This can be hand-written on a piece of paper or in a Word document. I'll share my best tips about storing them later. Just collect this data and keep it where you can find it for now. We're building. And next time you won't have to, well, re-invent the wheel (or your posts).
