The hardest thing to overcome in recovery is changing your reality. The thought of not having the booze, the drugs, the cigarettes was unbearable to me.

How would I cope without my 3 crutches? They have been a part of my life for so long.

when I realized they were killing my physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually I put them down. I hit rock bottom so hard I still feel the sting over 3-years later.

That is what rock bottom is IMO. Hitting so hard it shakes all the bullshit loose. You realize what you thought was keeping you afloat was truly a 100-pound weight around your neck as you try to swim across the ocean blaming anyone and everyone you can because it’s so hard to swim.

It’s easy to change your reality when you have decide you don’t want the weight around your neck anymore.
