With streaming, there’s so many options. To be able to watch some of the early shows, such as, I Love Lucy & more current originals. Stranger Things, for example. Sometimes we’re looking at shows that we enjoyed previously. Or maybe it’s one that was on before we were born or we were around then, but didn’t have an opportunity to see it. There is a downside to there being so many choices. More to view than time for them.
If I could have one show return it would be, Moonlighting. Not a remake, but the original actors. Cybill Shepherd, Bruce Willis, Allyce Beasley & Curtis Armstrong. A lot of shows have done a reboot. I’d like this one to as well. Even if it’s just a few episodes. Catch up to where the characters are now. Maddie & Dave still fussing & fighting some, I’m guessing. Still running the agency & solving cases. Agnes & Bert long time married with a few kids & grandkids. At least that’s how I picture it.
That show is when I started being fans of all of those actors. Though they had been in other projects before that. Cybill Shepherd, especially was well known. Having been a model & in films, such as, The Last Picture Show with Jeff Bridges & directed by Peter Bogdanovich.
I loved the chemistry between Maddie & Dave. There was said to be on set friction & even dislike between Cybill Shepherd & Bruce Willis. Though, it's also been said that that might have been just gossip & rumors. Not from the cast or crew either. Just stories concocted to sell the rags of the day. I think that type of nonsense is worse now with all of the different social people can spread hateful things on. Though, I've also seen a lot of good done on them as well. Such as animal rescue.
It was an innovative show & still considered that to this day. It certainly wasn't formulaic. It was often quirky. Trying different things, such as, their version of Taming of the Shrew.
*Spoiler* I didn't have an issue with Maddie & Dave being intimate. I just didn't care for how the writers had them handle it after. Their trying to pretend it didn't happen & Maddie going back home & Dave chasing after her, well, it was still a decent show & certainly unconventional, but it had lost a lot of the heart & humor & by the time they started getting that back, it was too late. A reboot would feel like a second chance, sort of. Which show would you like a reboot of?
