So we set our compass to west and aimed for Portugal, crossing the border in the south.
The Algarve with its expensive restaurants, golden sandy beaches hidden in little alcoves is a hotspot for wanna be millionaires. Our first stop was on the coast only to be greeted with NO CAMPER/MOTORHOME signs at every turn. They were everywhere… and It quickly came clear that we were not welcome…
Late in the day we found a park up slightly more inland on what I’d call brushland. A few other campers there hidden behind trees and bushes as not to be discovered by the GNR (police) We found a hollow big enough to hide the camper only to be discovered by a Portuguese Karen telling us we were breaking the law, camping in a national park and risking a €500 fine. All whilst taking pictures of the camper and saying she was calling the police!!
Well we stayed there the night without an issue but wasting no time in the morning started our journey north straight after breakfast….
