The world of sexual harm is scary, and everyone on all sides needs
someone to talk to. I'm often that person. As a survivor and
trauma-informed educator, I support survivors develop a path to healing,
which might include referral to trauma and mental health services,
mediating discussions with their perpetrator and/or their community, or
simply just being on-call as a person to talk to. I also support
perpetrators in engaging in accountability practices, and refer them out
to more robust transformative justice processes. Finally, I lead
workshops and trainings to bolster community knowledge of trauma and
accountability practices, in the hopes that we can all do better in
supporting our community members as they heal from harm.
While I
do some of this work as a paid consultant (see my website:
www.emmakaywin.com), I never turn anyone away and often do not even
bring up payment -- it seems a little uncouth to do so when people are
hurting so much. However, perhaps you would like to help support this
community-based emotional labor I provide by buying me a "coffee"! I'll use this money to continue to be able to survive myself while supporting people who can't afford to pay me but need my services.
