Hi! I'm Rachel Koski Nielsen. I've been "Farmer Rachel" since 2010. I'm steward of a 20 acre homestead in East Central Minnesota where I garden, raise fruit trees, keep poultry, run my dogs, and tan animal hides that no one else wanted.
I've been writing about my many adventures in small farming for over a decade - from raising sheep and geese, to buying a farm, to making wine, and selling at farmers markets.
I share my knowledge and skills in articles that I publish on Hubpages sites, and earn a small passive income from them.
Lately, I've been writing about and photographing my exploration of natural, ancestral hide tanning practices on my personal website.
I share my little home with my guy, my partner, my bff David; our baby daughter Hilma who was born in late June of 2021; and our 3 dogs and 2 cats.
When you buy me a coffee, it supports my goal of turning my enjoyment for hide-tanning into a lucrative hustle. It gets me closer to offering tanning workshops, more retail, and custom tanning services to farmers, hunters, and trappers.
