When and why would you use την,τον,το.... whenever in a sentence you need to use the words με(with),για(for, about), από (from, through) after those you need to use την ,τον ,το.

The την word is actually an article , sometimes translated as her,and goes in front of feminine nouns :

με την Ελένη( έχεις κάτι με την Ελένη; /Is everything fine between you and Eleni?

Τον means also him,and is an accusative article going in front of masculine nouns:

με τον Κώστα, απο τον Κώστα( πάω έξω με τον Κώστα ( I am going ou with Kosta)

Neutral words use το :

Με το παιδί, για το σπίτι...(εχω μια καινούργια καρέκλα για το σπίτι μου/I have a new chair for my house)
