We all need to move, to get from A to B in the urban environment. So how do you do this? Car on a busy street, public transport crowded with 200 of your closest friends, biking through car traffic or walking. Each one of these comes with inherent risk - from relying on a car to start, to the municipality meeting the bus schedule, to drivers with a vengeance for bikers and a govt that fails to clear the sidewalks. Think about your alternative. Knowledge is power, think about if your primary means of transportation was no longer appropriate or available to you, how would you get around? This is more complex that you think - transportation is a key to preparedness, moving around before and during a disruption is important. Know your routes, your alternate routes. Where are you parking your car if your lot at home is no longer available? This is far more complex than you might first think...
