About Rifat Jawaid
Founder of one of the most popular YouTube channels. 25 years of high impact multimedia journalism with 12 years spent across all divisions and platforms in the BBC in senior leadership roles. My video interviews from 2002 Commonwealth Games clocked more than 5 million views on YouTube alone (youtube.com/jantakareporter).
Experience of leading international editorial teams of over 350 staff spread across Asia, Europe, the Arab World and Africa. Known for using social media/digital platforms for effective communication and years of experience in reporting on locations from around the world for BBC and other media agencies. As Managing Editor-newsgathering for India’s largest media group (India Today), I conceived and executed the integration of newsrooms across languages and platforms while boosting the group's digital footprint.
Advocate of ethical journalism and not scared of holding politicians to account. Also, always ready to identify the shortcomings of the MSM.
