Passage 25 - You Spin Me Right Round

Passage 25 - You Spin Me Right Round

Jun 13, 2022

I walk in the direction the Wizard's Wife pointed in for ages. I do a pretty good job of sticking to the direction despite the increasing number of shrubs and trees that force me to step around them. Eventually I get to a narrow, muddy path that I wouldn't have seen if it hadn't been very recently walked with a set of footprints making the mud even muddier.

One direction is pretty close to the way I just came from, so I go the other and walk for ages on the path until I get to a nice big rock. I sit down. Weirdly, I think I saw a rock like this before, only it was on my other side and there wasn't a path.

I must have been walking for hours.

"I can still see you!" the zombie giant calls.

I look back and I can see her head above the trees. She's nearer than I expected and more in front of me than behind. The bitch must be playing tricks on me.

"Go that way," she yells and I see her hand above the tree tops.

She's pointing at an angle to the path. Why is she helping me if she's setting impossible tasks? She's obviously lying to me if she's busy playing silly buggers and following me around. She can move more quietly than I would expect of a dead giant lumbering around.

I have no idea what shit she's going to get me in if I go in the direction she's pointing in.

If I don't go in that direction, she's still likely to follow me around and cause problems.

I really don't want to spend more time being breathed on by a large undead thing.

I hear something like a baby crying from the sky and look towards it. All I can see is a big bird a long way away, circling in the sky.

"That way," I call out to the Wizard's Wife. "I'm going that way."

I get off my rock and start walking towards where I think I saw the bird.

I walk for ages. I'm doing a pretty good job of job of keeping to a line even though there are still lots of trees and shrubs that I have to walk around. Some of the overgrown plants I have to get around have trunks wider that a small car. Thankfully, I come to another narrow path that I wouldn't have seen if it hadn't been very recently walked over. I just have to decide whether to walk in the same direction as the footsteps that disturbed the old leaves on the ground or follow them backwards.
