Update #2 (August / September)

Update #2 (August / September)

Oct 03, 2020

Hello there,

Here's the second progress report.

I'm gonna get all fancy and put some images in there.

DECKS UPDATE

  • Grammar deck

    • Now contains all lessons from NHK 15. I recommend the website for lessons by the way.

    • I added lessons from Japanese Pod for the JLPT 5 level.

    • All examples revised with furigana check, and grammar point in bold.

    • Table of content and all lessons tab added so you can easily check any lesson, regardless of the card you're on. Should help phone users.

    • Added some (very few) natives examples to illustrate a grammar point.

  • Manga - Yostuba

    • Finally added chapter 6 and 7. Which means that volume 1 is actually done. Yeah!

    • Before doing so, I went back and check again every sentence, merged some together, corrected furiganas, wrong page, misplaced english translations, corrected slangs, and put Names in brackets for better Morphman Accuracy.

    • Template has also been updated to V3 so, it now works with MIA, and the "kanji pop-up is updated."

  • Anime - Into the forest of Fireflies light

  • Anime - Grave of the Fireflies

  • Anime - Howl's Moving Castle

  • Anime - My Neighbour Totoro

  • Anime - Spirited Away

  • Anime - Your Name

  • Anime - Hajime no Hippo

  • Anime - Slam Dunkhttps://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn%3AANd9GcRPTwPc8xPeucEFvVFncl7sGTKoka_45yxAhA&usqp=CAU

  • Game - Chrono Trigger

    • It's finally done, it took a long time as I wasn't doing it frequently but the deck for the best Jrpg (I'm biased) is out.

    • Now, there's still problems with formating and parsing, and pictures missing, but it's usable.

    • A lot of lines couldn't get captured because the text changes depending on who is on the team. So I'll do another playthrough someday. It has multiple endings so I couldn't do everything in one go anyway.

SPREADSHEET

  • New columns for Readability

    • In order to add visibility I added a column for % of words known. Long shows had higher % of lines known, so now, you can balance it out.

    • I changed the formatting here and there, hopefully for the better.

  • Grammar tab Created
Following the update of the grammar deck, I put up an new tab with all the grammar lessons. That includes all the chapters ordered chronologically, lessons and examples. It also gives information about which textbook covers which lesson.

  • Game Script Updated
It used to be just a list, but there's more information now. Although not all titles are complete.

    • I added the japanese titles so it could be easier to look up script or longplay on youtube.

    • Release / Rating / Console is not essential info, but I like it.

    • I divided the scripts in 3 categories, either english alone, japanese alone, or the two together.

    • For each I added the precision if it was a text dump or a transcript. A transcript might have spelling errors but at least it should be ordered like the game.

    • I also added important information about the japanese. Is it with or without kanji ? And more importantly, does it have furigana.

  • Sentence Tab Created

    • It contains the export of all of my decks.

    • I honestly don't know if I'm going to keep it. There's so many lines, it takes time to load, and one could use it's own database in Anki.

  • Difficulty Tab Created

    • Same thing, I don't know if I'm going to keep it. It would only be useful if people rate a show, but so far not a lot of people did. By that I mean almost nobody. I think it would need a full website devoted to this, and not a spreadsheet.

    • I tried to experiment with more objective data, like the average length of sentences for a show but again, I'm not so sure that length is very important. (That's what she said).

UPDATES TO COME

  • Kanji deck (almost done)

    • Addition of Wanikani mnemonic and order

    • Addition of a new card style for production (writing kanji)

    • Addition of new card style for the memrise template (pick a answer among 6 choices)

    • Card Style formated for beginners with all the information written so you can easily choose wich part you want to see on the card.

  • Grammar deck

    • I haven't finished Genki 2 as I was focused on creating decks, so I'll be more focus on finishing grammar and spending less time checking every single anime card.

  • Pokemon Games decks. Meaning putting ff7 on the side for now.

  • A speaking practice deck. Because Pimsleur doesn't cut it.

  • A core 2K with native examples from anime. All in +1 order. Easier said than done, I wanted to use previous decks, but the screenshot quality is really not sufficient in my eyes, so I'll be redoing the ones that need to be redone.

  • A Guide to put all this in order. More importantly, it will contains tutorial for most stuff. Hopefully it will be precise but concise enough.

I think that's it.
