Unfortunately in today's society, over 70% of adults in the United States say that they feel daily stress and anxiety. Whether that comes from work, home-life or other circumstantial events, stress and anxiety is something that can really hold you back in life and can be very tough to go through.

I wanted to provide 5 of my favorite quick tips to help mitigate and relieve this anxious and stressful feeling.

1. Exercise

Exercise lowers your body's stress hormones and helps release endorphins, which are chemicals that improve your mood and essentially act as a natural pain killer.

2. Reduce Caffeine

Studies have shown that high quantities of caffeine can increase stress and anxiety. Most of us feel the need to drink tons of coffee because of the pressures of how much work we have on our plate, but try cutting back and see how this makes you feel.

3. Write things down

Keeping a journal can help relieve stress when you focus on the positive. Write down 3 things that you are grateful for every morning. This will put you in a positive and light mood as you start the morning, setting the tone for the rest of the day.

4. Spend time with friends and family

Being surrounded by people you love is one of the best natural remedies for stress and anxiety. Being around people that lift you up, support you, and people that you trust gives you a sense of belonging and self-worth, which can really help in tough times.

5. Listen to music 

Slow-paced instrumental music can really help relax your body and lower your blood pressure and heart rate, allowing you to calm your mind from all those outside external stresses of life.
