Stop Trying To Diet | Life More Abundant Series

I get it. You're tired of feeling like crap and you want to lose weight, so you start a diet. But then, before you know it, your old habits creep back in and suddenly that clean eating plan is gone faster than ever. How does this happen? It happens because diets don't work! Diets are temporary fixes for permanent problems. If you want to be happy with your body and feel confident in the skin you're in, I've got three great tips for achieving all of those things without depriving yourself or counting calories!

1) Identifying your triggers. Consciously you know that many of us over eat, or make wrong choices, based on triggers. The triggers all lead back to basically one thing: stress. Stress causes more sicknesses and diseases than anything else. Understanding what triggers you is the first step in dealing why you choose what you do. Once identified, you can start with switching out what you normally go for for a healthier alternative while you work on healing the space that has you grabbing for that comfort or convenient food.

2) Finding alternative ways to deal with stress. There are many ways to deal with stress that are absolutely free. I know you've heard of breathing deeply but this is why it works: when we are in a stressful moment that is emotionally charged all these chemicals start to flood our frontal cortex. This then drops our IQ by like 15 points. Your IQ is the speed of how you process & interpret data. You are now in a diminished capacity to think, which is your real gift. By take deep breaths you begin to settle down the chemical chaos that you are in, bringing your emotions and thinking capacity back to normal. Other things you can do is go for a walk or jog or move into another activity that you enjoy. The goal here is to come back to a sense of peace. The peace factor is what keeps you healthy in the long run.

3) Focus on self-love instead of weight loss. When we tie our weight loss to an external reason, we can, by sheer will, force ourselves to get there. However, you are start something is how you will need to maintain it. Often, people start the journey with excessive restrictive diet plans that really do not suit their personality, so eventually they fall off it and gain the weight back. Or, they start an extreme workout regime to go into a calorie deficit but as soon as life happens or they get injured, the weight comes back. When losing weight out of the viewpoint of doing it because you love yourself and you want to feel good energetically, you will organically move into the right food and exercise lifestyle that will feel effortless to you. That's how I ended up losing over 20 pounds in two months and have been able to keep it off with ease. Love yourself and the rest will follow.
