Does this sound like you or someone you know?

"I'm a spiritual soul with an entrepreneurial spirit. I know that it's all about the 'law of attraction,' but sometimes life isn't so easy and I need the help of good old fashioned cash to get me through."

Money is a topic that many people avoid. It has been taboo to discuss or even mention it, but the reality is that money matters and it's important for us all to have some basic understanding of what it means in our lives.

In the good book we are told that money answers all things. Money is an energy force, providing opportunities to live our life in a way that makes us not only feel free, but do good at every opportunity we can.

Money is our partner and like all relationships it has rules, boundaries, and standards to meet. Here are two main reasons why you might be having issues with money:

The way you talk about it. Are you poo-pooing those with more than you? Saying that money isn't important? Saying things like money isn't everything? That it isn't a spiritual thing? These are words of bitterness, resentment, and apathy. If this was a person, do you really think that s/he would like to spend time with you? You can't have what you talk down about.

The way you think about it. Do you believe money is hard to get? Hard to keep? Hard to create? What you think about you bring about. What you focus on expands. As long as you believe this is true your brain will lead you into scenarios to make you right. Change your thinking and you're change the flow of money to you.

Now what? Now that you can identify what is blocking the flow, how do you shift out of that?

Treat it like a relationship that you want to develop.

You can do this by:

  • Honoring it. Review your spending. How much of it is wasteful? Check out last week's post for more help there.

  • Stop talking bad about it. Money is amoral. It's either good or bad in your hands. You are the deciding factor of what it becomes.

  • Share it. Money is a vehicle to show people practically some love. Decide on a percentage to consistently give away in charitable acts.

  • Make some plans and stick to it. What projects would you like to fund? Money is currency, it likes to flow. Create a plan or two and expect money to come in to fund it.

  • Seek it out. What is your gut telling you to do? Do it! One reason people do not receive is because they do not honor the ideas that flutter into them. By honoring those ideas by working on them, you allow the doors to open for you to be at the right place at the right time with the right people. After all, what you seek is seeking you to.

Remember: money is energy and we are exchanging a part of our lives every day for it, whether we realize it or not. While it's not the most important thing, what is ignored leaves your life. Don't ignore the importance of your friend called money.
