A Killer’s Soliloquy (A Satirical Essay)

A Killer’s Soliloquy (A Satirical Essay)

Apr 09, 2021

As I enter in my dark quiet place, I feel the tingling feeling in my feet running through my legs. My back feels like a heavy load while my chest is numb. My mind is blank yet I can feel the eeriness of my feet. Perhaps, I am tired. My day is filled with workloads (every day I mean). I have received phone calls for several appointments, but each of them only took for a minute or two. I must admit, I value time. Of all the inconstant things in this world, valuing time is my absolute. Sometimes, it is even unhealthy because I have not eaten my lunch yet until 6 pm. It does not feel good to be workaholic but at least I do this not just for myself. I am a selfless man; I do this for other people, for our country.

Let me tell you something about myself as I rest my mind with rigorous tasks I have been through this day. I can say I am changed person. My work made me so. The work ethics is undeniably great and even the salary. I am able to provide not just only my needs but also my wants. I am able to send money to my relatives in our province as well. If you’re wondering, I live alone here in the city. My parents died when I was still a kid. It is definitely okay. I have no dramas in life because life is not life if it is not harsh. It is purposeful because of it. Before, I am so incapable; incapable of providing my needs and incapable of doing things. But, things have changed because of this job. I did not only get a stable job, I also get a family.

Few years ago, a person I know but I did not really know well invited me to attend in an orientation and without a doubt, they hired me. I did not know what I have got to hire me that easily. I guessed that it was because of my dauntlessness. We were only few who were hired. Lucky me, I was one of them. I am proud of myself because it is an international company. It is a transnational company around the globe. All countries have this to be a helping hand of the government especially the president. Plus, in every region, they have offices. I have never seen any organized company in my whole life until I meet them. I am so happy. I am a lucky person indeed. We were trained for 3 months. We attended series of orientations of do and don’ts. The speaker told us that our job is critical because we work for our country and it is very situational. We act depending on the situation assigned to us. This work really is a real life changer. I learned to have critical thinking skills.

I deeply apologize for the long prologue. I seldom talk about my job. It is confidential because the president would not want to expose this. The president strictly instructed our boss to orient us that it is still in the process of legality. As you know, transnational companies need to undergo processes and documentations to have permission in the country yet our company although still undocumented was permitted to run in the country because the government knows we are a big help. We were trusted by the government that in our precious hands, we can make this world a better place to live in.

Our company’s vision is to eradicate useless people and strive for change. A change intended for a democratic country where the majority are favored and their voices are heard while the minority is ostracized. The rules are in the hands of those in position and the masses follow the rules. For a single phone call, a life will disappear yet a whole community will be saved. Most cases identified are drug users, robbers and other heinous crime doers and makers.

Just recently, the president’s research team found out the real reason behind the countries unprogressive performance. Firstly, a high percentage of country’s budget is solely reserved to help the marginalized. They were prioritized by the government through various programs yet the poor stays to be poor. Secondly, economic stagnation is experienced because it is disregarded as the previous government focused to these useless people. Thirdly, the country’s population is mostly covered by the marginalized; thus, tax payers are lessened. It is all because of these poor families. The cases have a common denominator; they are all deeply rooted from poor families. Since the government needs us, we are like super heroes ready for our next mission. The government declared that if families who have less than 10,000 monthly incomes, they have the chance to be in the place where every person is destined to be at. The government is more eager this time just to convince these people to have the best life they can have as long as they’ll obey.

This sanctuary is called the happy place. It is a perfect place after death. The bible speaks it is a paradise where hatred and remorse cannot be felt. These people need this place as soon as possible. They deserve a good living after a long time of famine, oblivion and poverty here on earth. Happy place awaits these families. The government, as usual, will help them to achieve their lives’ greater purpose; of course, with our help.

I can feel the nobility that is burning in my soul. After I was able to see how amazing my company envisions the change our society needs, I guaranteed them I would keep this fire burning. I would be passionate of my work because this is for the betterment of them. This is my soliloquy. My mantra shouts I am pursuer of change because I let those people who live, die; and, let those who die, live.
