Amtrak Adventures - 10 stops, 30 Days

Sep 20, 2021

While the cancer secretly fights to keep growing deep within, we go on our next adventure. After securely parking our van at Keith’s generous ex’s home, we headed off to the Amtrak station to begin our 30 day, 10 stop exploration.

The first excitement was how to sleep comfortably in a coach seat! I’m 5 feet 2 inches tall so I can make almost any environment comfortable. Keith on the other hand is 6 feet 1 inch tall. He has a much harder time fitting into spaces. Plus he pulled his back muscle right before we locked the van up. The poor guy has an extra complication to deal with. Keith is an amazing travel companion he hardly ever complains about his aches and pains. He can tolerate a lot more discomfort than I can. 🤫

This was my first position, utilizing a combo of what the seat offered and my rolling bag, I was able to be 3/4 horizontal

The train was 50% full. That meant we were able to spread out and take up our own row. I was in heaven. I woke up an hour or so after we took off and saw other people spread out. I ditched Keith and grabbed the row next to us. I was snug as a bug in a rug. I slept the rest of the night.

With advices from our friend Nicole, who just finished her train adventures, we came equipped with blankets and pillows. We were as comfortable as we could be. The Amtrak coach seats are almost as comfortable as the seats in business class on the planes. Their toilets on the other hand are old and banged up. Bringing your own bag of wet wipes is so recommended.

Alrighty then! A successful and easy launch to the first leg of our adventures. Next stop Seattle, Washington to see our friend Cathy.

May your travels be first class with a coach seat price, with good cell reception. And a clean toilet. 🤩
