Back from a brief station break!

Sep 15, 2022

Hello to everyone out there in radio land!

It's been a minute since our last episodes. Last week, the internet at Casa del Mean Streets gave up the ghost. But as of today, we're up and running again with internet that should be better, stronger, and faster...and it didn't cost six million dollars!

Last week's episode of Stars on Suspense is coming to you this week with Geraldine Fitzgerald in a pair of radio thrillers. I apologize for the delay of both this show and Down These Mean Streets. I try to get these shows out for you on a regular schedule but sometimes life's hiccups and hurdles get in the way.

Here's a glimpse at the line-up for the next few days, which I'm hoping will make up for the absence of new shows last week...

Thursday 9/15 - A new Stars on Suspense with Geraldine Fitzgerald in "A Friend to Alexander," "Philomel Cottage" with Orson Welles, and a wartime romantic drama from The Cavalcade of America.

Saturday 9/17 - Our annual celebration of Batman Day on Down These Mean Streets brings us back to Metropolis as the Caped Crusader teams up with the Man of Steel in an old time radio adventure.

Sunday 9/18 - Down These Mean Streets is back with a regular episode featuring three old time radio mysteries set on trains. We'll hear Tales of the Texas Rangers, Suspense, and The Adventures of Leonidas Witherall.

Wednesday 9/21 - A bonus Stars on Suspense show with another "best of" showcase for one of our past stars. This time - Jack Benny trades his violin for violence in three old time radio thrillers.

Thursday 9/22 - Van Heflin makes his fourth visit to Stars on Suspense for two more "tales well calculated."

Friday 9/23 - Another bonus Down These Mean Streets installment with my five favorite radio adventures of Philip Marlowe.

Sunday 9/25 - We mark the 60th anniversary of the end of the golden age of radio on Down These Mean Streets with 1962 broadcasts from Yours Truly, Johnny Dollar.

Thanks again for your patience, and happy listening!

Jack
