Consumer confidence in current economic conditions fell to 143.4 from 148.9 in August

The future expectations index slid to 86.6 from 92.8, lowest level since January.

Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen told Congress on Tuesday that she is now projecting inflation to be higher than she previously anticipated. 

Consumer confidence is really telling us that inflation is zooming up on everything and Consumer participation in spending will become less because of higher costs.
