Micro-Chop is a newsletter, Twitter account, and website created and written by me, Gino Sorcinelli. It dissects beatmaking, DJing, music production, rapping, and sampling.

Each article I write explores the intersection of the personal experience and process behind a wide variety of songs and albums. Many Micro-Chop stories have a strong focus on instrumental hip-hop and rap music, but I also write about several other genres.

Micro-Chop started as a Medium publication in 2016. In 2019 I switched to an article/newsletter hybrid. I'm planning another platform adjustment in the near future, but for now I will continue to self-publish my own work, write for a variety of other outlets, and maintain an active Twitter account that features unique and very popular music threads on a near-daily basis.

I’ve also written engaging, narrative non-fiction articles for Ableton, HipHopDX, Okayplayer, Passion of the Weiss, Red Bull Music Academy, Reverb, Roland, and several other outlets. My Micro-Chop article on the making of 'Madvillainy' was selected for inclusion in the book 'Best Damn Hip Hop Writing: 2018.'
