Hi everyone, and happy new year!
As I've posted before on Twitter, I quit my job in early 2020 in order to concentrate on F1 journalism and attend races as a freelancer. Unfortunately, after only attending preseason testing, COVID happened and, well, it all kinda fell apart...
But, while in lockdown and having my health, I've put my head down and tried to keep things going. I started my YouTube channel, and have committed myself more than ever to trying to bring everyone the latest news and opinion from the world of Formula 1.
But, it's not easy. As an independent, making money is tough. I'm not talking about 'attending races' money, I'm talking 'pay the electricity bill' money. So I have to be a little bit more aggressive in pushing ways for me to actually generate an income from my work. After all, a lot of people watch my videos and read my articles/tweets. So many, in fact, that even a euro/dollar a month from each of you would ensure that I could continue as a fulltime independent journalist once the paddock reopens to us.
So...please consider it. I have a membership option set up for 3 euro a month (should I reduce this to 1? - Buy Me A Coffee's fees eat into that), as well as one-off payments if you just feel like showing me some support. Believe me, even the smallest amounts add up, and thanks to each and every one of you who have supported me in the past.
I haven't quite figured out a way to say thanks in a more tangible way - I'm thinking of including access to my Discord channel so we can build a nice little exclusive haven for F1 fans. What do you think?
