How it started

Mar 07, 2022

I was a restaurant manager working in Oshawa, when a gentleman and his family came into my restaurant. I was serving at the time because we were short staffed and this gentleman was sat in the few tables I was serving. He had a familiar face but I couldn’t for the life of me put a name to it. Through conversation I would later realize I was serving one of the best multimedia journalists in Ontario. The name to the face was Colin Williamson. At that point I had followed Colin for about a year, always fascinated with how he interacted with first responders, told the story in his photos, caught the raw emotions. I had always been an adrenaline junky, but haven’t experienced it first hand. We got to talking as his family tried to eat their dinners, looking back probably not the most appropriate time but if it wasn’t for that conversation, I wouldn’t be writing this today. We exchanged information, and I think we even met up that night when I was done work. I followed him to a few calls, shadowed him, loved what he was doing. The next day a trip to Henry’s was made. I purchased my first “real” camera on the spot. It was around that time that a move to a new region of Southern Ontario was in the works. We packed up and called Baltimore home. With the experience I gained, it took a push from Colin to start my own platform here in Northumberland. With just over 10,000 followers on Facebook in just over a year I’d say Colin was right in pushing me to follow my new passion for stringing and photography.
