Nacreous clouds

Jan 11, 2021

The beautiful Polar Stratospheric clouds, or Nacreous clouds is a seldom seen phenomena and only visible in the arctic in mid winter. I have seen them here in Iceland a few times and most of the time around an hour before sunrise or after sunset, but this time they were visible all day long. Extremely low temperatures are causing this phenomena, around -80 degrees Celsius in high altitudes, above 25 kilometers above earth.
