That was GRIM! Monday was a public holiday here and families were out and about having BBQs and picnics, it was great fun.
Inevitably there was some litter left behind so we took to picking up what we could see, it could definitely have been worse though. We found a lot of discarded kite string and one whole perfectly good kite. This is of course harmful to wildlife in the area so we picked up what we could see, we will gift the kite to a family we know.
Then just as we decided to turn back we saw a blue plastic bag in wading distance on the shore, so we went in…
It was vile and had clearly been in the ocean a long time: a double bagged water logged trash bag and it STINKS
We dragged it back out, drained as much of the foul smelling water as we could then hauled it (still super heavy) up the cliff where we left for someone to dispose of properly as there was nothing we could do with it.
Still, one productive day on the litter front!
