I elected to write about my work on the study of Andy Warhol. Honestly, there was no reason for that study other than personal curiosity. I have waited to add my proverbial two cents. There is little reason for that. In a gray measurement of time, I spent about 15 years in research, and I finally committed to publishing my personal observations. Oh, my friend, I went deep.
I was partly inspired to release my outsider's tales because I intend to rid my entire collection of a library of Warhol books, ephemera, and objects by means of eBay. Over the years I have maintained an eye on what sells and when the values are low. That's just business. I think the values are soon going to be higher and I am pleased that I waited. I have some gems that in recent difficult and desperate times were very difficult to hold onto.
Mind you, these are not major things that will make me rich by any imaginary stretch. I have an autographed photo and some ephemera and books. No actual silkscreened works or any such treasures.
On May 9, Christie's will be auctioning off one of Warhol's Shot Marilyn screened works. While that may not mean a thing to you, it is estimated to sell for $200 million dollars or more, and the art world is aflame with this work being sold for more than any other painting in history.
I have been casually writing (serendipitously) and have only just discovered the coincidence in timing, but I am scheduled for a bit of surgery this week. The procedure should be fairly easy, but I have a bit of a genetic disadvantage that complicates the matter. Wish me a bit of luck, will ya? Also, THANK YOU, for being part of this Coffee Club. As my friend and supporter, I will enthusiastically share my full dissertation with you before it goes out anywhere else. It must be completed and ready to publish by May 10. EGAD! I just have to make it to the other side of the slice-and-dice.
