Hi! So I want to introduce myself first. My name is PoppyGoLucky, but you can call me Pogulu for short! I work as a freelance English translator for Japanese manga.
I started working as a freelance translator since I had to leave my previous job some months ago because of the pandemic, paired with some personal (physical and mental) health problems and concerns.
My previous job was office-based. I was trained in the company as an English tutor for Japanese students, and I taught them English skills and communication. It didn't take that long for me to actually get the hang of it, considering that I've already studied a bit of Japanese way back in my elementary years. I also began communicating in Japanese from time to time, to better teach my Japanese students.
I was known to them, as Pop-san.
However, because of the problems this pandemic is causing, I had to leave my job because of this terrible situation that the whole world is in. I live with my family, and since I have to stay home, I've also decided to find work to do, to which I actually did.
I'm now working on translating a Japanese manga (which I won't share the name just yet) with my combined knowledge of Japanese culture, myths, speech, and inside-jokes, as I used to teach English to my Japanese students and had asked some questions before about some cultural things.
So, yeah! That's it for me haha. Anyway, since you're still reading, I'll share some screenshots (edited to be as non-spoiler as possible) of my work, and a few bloopers along the way.
