October is racing by at Roland's Travels

Oct 27, 2022

Hello again!

Thank you for being here. It's my first month of retirement, and I have been busy writing and filming for Roland's Travels. Things got off to a shaky start when my wife had to be rushed to hospital on the first weekend of retirement. Thankfully she is recovering well, and I can now spend time on Roland's Travels.

I have visited several places and have already written about them and produced a video. Old Sarum Castle was very interesting, and a video is online now, with the article to follow very soon. I had never heard of a Steeple Flyer before until I researched for my trip to the Wiltshire village of Bromham. You can read more about that and see the video on my post, The Village of Bromham.

The Somerset town of Frome is a place I always love to visit. It is full of beautiful old buildings and independent shops. It also has a Plaque Trail, and I followed this on a glorious October day to film it for you. Amazingly, there are eighteen places to see and learn about the reason for the plaque. I walked quite a way on that trip!

Roland's Travels Podcast is doing well, with more listeners finding it every week. This month, I had the pleasure of interviewing Glyn Coy of Hidden Wiltshire. I have more interviews scheduled, one with a curator of an extraordinary museum and another with a historian who lives in the United States of America. Please look out for these episodes, I hope both will be available during November. To ensure you are advised when they are online, do become a free subscriber at Roland's Travels.

Thank you for your support.

Roland
