Profundity - ASAP DCA 3Commas Trading Bot

Dec 18, 2021

Hi there,

Today I'm going to talk about the Profundity bot and reveal its configuration. Profundity is a DCA long bot with an asap start condition which I've created with the aim to have a bot that would perform similar to TA Standard settings but would cost less to run it fully covered, hence enabling the possibility of having more bots running fully covered considering the same bankroll.

The Objective
The TA Standard Settings have been my go to preferred configuration for the 3commas bots, but although it is a battle tested configuration that many of us default to, it is an expensive one, so my main objective when creating this bot was to have a configuration that would cost less to run fully covered than the TA Standard settings, that could have the same price deviation to open safety orders of 60% and it's ROI should be at least the same.

So, in order to do it I first started by cutting in half the total number of Safety Orders from 30 to 15, and then I've adjusted the OS and SS in order to enable that each Safety Order step would represent less effort to exit the deal when compared to TA Settings when the equivalent level is reached.

The Strategy
The intention with this bot is to set it and forget it, I don't want to be worried about it so this is a bot that you need to run fully covered, as running it overextended will refute the purpose, and because it has less SOs than TA standard, you really need to make them count.

Also, if you want to be on the safe side and minimize the worries, only pick coins or tokens that are in the top 200 by Market Capital, and off course, you should only pick coins or tokens that you really wish to accumulate as you believe that the project behind it has a good future, in that sense, even if you end up with red bags it would be easier to manage your emotions as you would be HODLing them for the future.

As you know, with any bot that has the ASAP start condition, this is a bot to run during an uptrend, I believe that when crypto winter comes these types of bots won't be performing great as they would need strong upwards wicks to exit deals when deep in SOs, but time will tell and the proper adjustments will have to be made.

Profundity tests results (10 days of data)

In my testbed that has been running for 10 days now, we can see that Profundity with it's default TP of 2.0% has been delivering better ROI than TA standard, and it's a Bot that costs 42,9% less, meaning that for the same bankroll you can have more bots running at the same time, which will translate in an even bigger combined ROI.

I've included the currents results of Profundity using a TP of 1.5% in order to be able to go head to head with the TA Standard and determine the real differences in ROI. If we consider a $29,5k bankroll, we can have 20 bots using TA standard, and 28,6 bots using Profundity, which means that we would have 8 more bots running, so the current ROI display would need to be adjusted accordingly. If we take the current Profundity with TP 1.5 ROI result and divided it by 20 we get 0,046% ROI per bot, then to have a rough estimation of the possible outcome of having more bots running, we multiply the ROI per bot result by 28 ( the max number of bots with the same bankroll) and we get a final theoretical ROI of 1,288%. So at this point and with the current testbed data results, this translates that even with the same TP of 1.5% the Profundity would be more profitable due to the fact that you can run more bots than with TA standard settings, and the average duration of deals is only slightly lower that TA standard, which is a great indicator so far.

Now, if we jump into the standard TP of 2.0% for the Profundity bot, and we apply the same formula as we did above, that will elevate the theoretical current ROI of Profundity to 1,428%, which is 0.438% more ROI than TA standard, but at a cost of having to wait roughly more 3 hours per deal in average.

Let's see how the testbed results continue to evolve, but so far I'm liking what I'm seeing.

The configuration

What the acronyms mean:
BO - Base order size
SO - Safety Order size
TP - Take Profit
SOS - Price deviation to open safety orders
OS - Safety Order Volume Scale
SS - Safety Order Step Scale
MSTC - Max Safety Trades Count
DSC - Deal Start Condition

Sellium Profundity
BO: $11
SO: $11
TP: 2.0%
SOS: 1.75%
OS: 1.23
SS: 1.11
MSTC: 15
DSC: ASAP
* I recommend running any bot with the minimum BO/SO size of $11 to avoid exchange rounding errors.
