Auditions can be scary, for both parties. Wether you are an actor or a musician. Wether you are joining The Orchestra, A Band or Arts Performance. Here are some tips to help for both parties.

1) The five Ps

Practice Prevents P*ss Poor Performance. Make sure you give your self enough time each evening before the audition to practice what's required. Because you are going to feel nervous at the audition, you'll want to memorize your part the best you can.

2) Prepare Yourself

Before you go to bed, plan your journey. Wether you are driving, taking public transport or walking, you will need to see how you are getting there, what time you need to set off and plan for things going wrong.

On the day, you want to get up early. Try avoiding having a coffee or an energy drink as they induce stress. Give yourself time to wake up naturally. Have a shower and take the morning as slow as you can, also remember to leave early because you may have to travel a distance. Try getting an earlier bus or train incase one is late and try to find a trip to avoid traffic.

3) Warm Ups

Either in your car, a private space or in a rehearsal. Warm up. If you are acting, warm up your voice or accent, if you are a vocalist, do you your Vocal warm ups and if you are a musician, warm up your hands or technique to the instrument.

Auditioner:

1) Material

Material well in advance is best for the auditionee and it gives you an insight on how much they have practiced. It also give you an idea of what type of performer they are.

2) Second Opinion

Always have another person next to you in the audition, never have more than 3 people as you don't to taint the auditionees performance.

3) You can join in

Remember, if you are a band. Sometimes it's best to have a jam. See how this musicians bounces of others and there timing to the drums, as ideally they should of practiced with a metronome. Actors will also appreciate it if they have someone to bounce their lines off of too.

Also, for both parties. Take them out of the audition setting and go for a sandwich. Getting to know them personally will help with chemistry in bands or professional relationships with actors.
