Motriller, Motriller night

Motriller, Motriller night

Sep 25, 2022

Welcome to Motril which is Morocco but owned by Spain. Quite an interesting place you might think?

Maybe you're imagining Moorish castles and beautiful tanned Moroccan and Spanish people wandering sultry markets and beautiful rich cultural historic streets.

If you are imagining those

You are incorrect!!

Add it to the list

Right Motril is pretty rubbish as well. Add it to the list of lacklustre destinations. I'm not happy about it. There is a nice fort to be fair and the weather is obviously amazing (it's September and it's mid 20s and a beautiful temperature)

But there's not a whole lot of charm about this place as a basic cruise destination. Nice big beach but the water is that of an industrial port so it's not the most appealing for a dip

Few random bits of artwork dotted around the place which are quite nice but this is very much a pragmatic place - it is built for a purpose. It's not necessarily set up to be a tourist destination

El arto

Having made my harsh judgement on Motril I must add in that my experience was slightly tainted by the fact that Jesus hates capitalism which probably didn't help.

It's a Sunday so absolutely everything is closed apart from a few little cafes and a big supermarket. So the town wasn't exactly thriving or buzzing. Maybe on a Saturday its lively and lovely and full of things to do, eat and see. But I wouldn't be booking my 2 week stay in Motril any time soon.

The Seabourn Experience

I'm currently on Seabourn Sojourn. Now the benefit of this is if the port is somewhat lacklustre I can simply return to my ultra luxury cruise ship full of incredible food and outstanding amenities. For those un familiar Seabourn is an Ultra Luxury cruise line.

So as I write this I'm drinking my custom made oat milk flat white from the onboard coffee roasters sitting on a beautiful leather armchair (on or in - do you sit on or in an armchair - note to self - check that one out!)

Tonight I'll get dressed up and go to to one of the incredible dining outlets onboard to eat the finest food you can imagine with immaculate service before watching some live theatre

So it's not all bad. Hope you're having a lovely weekend wherever you are. Here's a big old Spanish cannon for you to look at!

Right I see the waiter bringing my fresh fruit plate. Time I ate again (it's been several minutes since my last gluttonous meal)

Have a great week ahead!

Stephen
