The greatest son in the world? Guilty as charged

Apr 06, 2022

Big Mary has the covid.

It finally got her.

I tested negative because I'm pretty much invincible

(The above statement clearly wilfully choosing to ignore the fact that I was on death's door last week)

But let's be honest - I probably had it and gave it to her and just was testing negative because I know that is quite a common occurrence

If you want to send her your best wishes you can find her on all of the various social media formats @malbabooks jump on and say hello and send positive thoughts!

The greatest son in the world?

So, obviously that title is not applicable to the process of procuring covid and giving it to my mother. That seems like far from ideal son like behaviour and even with my twisted ego it's unlikely I could spin that one into a positive light.

However

I am endeavouring to make up for it by catering to her every need! I filled the house full of all of the good food and have made constant nutritious meals and am waiting on Big Mary hand and foot.

Ergo, albeit probably I was the root cause of all her angst, I am now being the consummate medical professional.

Luckily she has not got many major symptoms and is mainly just a bit sleepy. She's 2 days in and already feeling much much better so we reckon one more day and she'll be sister act 2 (back in the habit)

IN OTHER NEWS

How NOT to respond to my emails...

Now that we have covered how incredibly diligent and wonderful I am I can move onto the topic in hand which needs addressing. How to read and respond (if you so choose) to my emails.

I will caveat that by saying - do whatever the hell you want it's your life go out and live it and don't let nobody tell you what to do

BUT

In the case of my emails - perhaps some context is required to full appreciate what I'm attempting to do here.

I'm just creating some mildly entertaining content whilst keeping you abreast of what's going on in my life. It's not serious or deep and meaningful fare (although I am burdened by a head full of sagely wisdom)

Ergo when I make faux dramatic statements like

"I am suffering more than any human in the history of humanity"

I DON'T ACTUALLY MEAN IT!!!

Occasionally I'll discuss some hot button topics or offer my opinion on things of more serious and contentious merit. But let's be honest - you're not following a musical theatre performer for their keen eye on geopolitics or the stock market (definitely don't follow me on the stock market!)

Please see the below response I received to last weeks dramatic email regarding my brush with death (probably the common cold or maybe covid)...

Let me address it oh so briefly... I'm clearly taking the p*ss... I'm not for a second equivocating my suffering with anything serious that people have gone through...

And if you were unable to garner that through the obvious exaggerate rhetoric (i'm writing some good words today my english teacher would be impressed) then I think these emails are not the one for you.

Most people get it though...

Let's be honest - most people got it as the joke it was intended as. And in classic internet form I'm dealing with the one negative response instead of the many positive ones!

I have included below some of the responses which made me laugh.

So anyway.

Have a nice week

Have a nicer weekend

I don't think I'm the greatest son in the world

I do make excellent soup tho

Yours, in carrot ginger, turmeric and leek

Stephen
