What is your one thing for 2022?

Feb 11, 2022

I am so excited to launch this support platform to nourish your leadership journey alongside my writing journey. Writing can be such a lonely task, much like motherhood. So that knowing you are here and that I have your support means the world to me.

2021 very much was my year of survival. Pandemic fatigue colliding with chronic illness, burn out and loss and grief. My biggest achievement in 2021 was that I survived it. So after 2 years of the global pandemic, and more years of chronic illness and motherhood, I've come to learn the best laid plans for your goals will more than likely go awry, often making you feel like a failure when you can't keep yourself on track. So instead, I am taking a much kinder approach to goal setting this year.

To support you in your leadership journey in 2022, I ask you to ponder this question- what is your one thing for 2022? If you get to New Years Eve at the end of 2022, and you find that life has served you up more challenges to overcome than you thought you could possibly survive, what is the one thing that you would be happy to achieve even if every other dream or plan went to sh#t?

If you google 'what is your one thing' you will most likely find entrepreneurs talking about the one thing you can offer to the world that is your unique genius. This is not what I am asking you to uncover. What I am asking is much simpler than that. I am simply asking you, if everything fell apart around you, what is the one thing that you would like to have achieved, protected or maintained in 2022 even if 2022 proves to be your most difficult year yet.

In 2021 my one thing was to maintain connection to my meaningful work (writing and coaching) no matter how sick I became.

In 2022 my one thing is to achieve a stable income which allows me space and energy to write and serve my community.

You'll notice that I haven't specified making a stable income from my writing and my coaching. I have two needs- one is for financial stability, and the other is to stay connected to my meaningful work. They might not be one and the same in 2022. They may be some combination of reasonable part-time employment AND my meaningful work that serves my community. That is ok. Because I know that this way still meets my needs.

So, what is your one thing in 2022? Something you'll put your energy towards even if everything else falls apart around you? Spend some time journaling or reflecting on this question.

Tip: Once you've identified your one thing for 2022, reflect back on this regularly. Commit to explorations that might take your towards your one thing. Stay open to creative solutions about how you'll get there.
