She stood on the boundary, waiting as she walked toward her, leaving the lake behind. “Are you ready?” she asked.
“Almost,” she replied. “You?”
“Almost.” She smiled.
“Shall we sit?”
Raising an eyebrow, she looked around. “Here? No. This isn’t the space you hold for me.”
She smiled slightly, and they walked until they reached a small wooden table with two chairs. Silence held them for a moment while they stood on opposite sides.
Gently, she spoke. “Whenever you’re ready.”
She nodded softly. “I know.”
