New Logo for The Chamber

New Logo for The Chamber

Oct 03, 2022

Over the past couple of weeks, I have been toying with a new logo. This is my latest iteration. The motto shown is taken from Patrick Crossen (a contributor), who, in an email sent as a cover letter, mentioned that The Chamber is a tendency for "the strange and dark and beautiful". I loved that saying so much that I asked permission to use it as The Chamber's tagline, which he graciously granted. In this logo modification though, I have changed it a little to make it more suitable for a round logo.

Also, if you are wondering about the woman in corpse make-up, I obtained her from Pixabay.com, who offers copyright-free, royalty-free images with only a few minor restrictions. Why did I choose her? I chose her at the moment, which was several months ago, because I had a subjective impression that she fitted the spirit of the magazine and was striking and unusual enough to attract attention. This was well before I obtained the motto from Patrick. So, it was only coincidence that the motto pairs well with the image. Since I use her image a lot, I had to have a name to refer to her by as always saying the woman in the corpse make-up or the ghoul or whatever else I could dream up just seemed awkward. So, I named her Damnatia, a corruption of damnation. Why that name? It just popped into my head and seemed suitable on first blush.
