Dracula 1931

Oct 13, 2021

The first of the Universal horror classics and it definitely shows. Many of the scenes and effects seem more like theater production than a film, causing it to be more silly than suspenseful at times. The gaps in the plot really stick out now and can leave you confused on what’s going on in some moments, but don’t let that hold you back from seeing Bela Lugosi and Dwight Frye. They absolutely dominate the scenes they are in as Dracula and Renfield. This is the movie that set the standard for a genre, but you’ll have to sit through some flaws.
