The other day, as I stepped out the house to run to the store, I was running in my head everything I needed to get. I knew everything I needed was at Walmart, but I told myself I was NOT, under any circumstances, going to the busy Walmart. I just didn’t want to be bothered with the lines, the people, Walmart period. I went to three gas stations and a Dollar General and could not find the few items I needed. Guess where I ended up? You guessed it. Walmart! Got everything I needed and went on home. I could have avoided an hour of wasted time and gas and went where I already knew my stuff was going to be.
We can look at this two ways. The first way I thought of this as an analogy, was in the respect of our gifts. We often have an inkling of our purpose or what we are meant to do in life. With that inkling or knowledge, we run from it. We run for many reasons. We feel we aren’t worthy, the responsibility seems too great, we are having too much “fun and sense of freedom” or even we want to go in another direction. At the end of the day, God is going to bring us right back to what we were created for in the first place. Everything that we do in life will end up around our purpose. We can’t run away from it, no matter how hard we try. We won’t feel completely fulfilled until we walk in the steps that were already ordered for us. ✨
The other way we can look at this as an analogy is in the effect of trying everything to fulfill us but God! We know about God. We hear that God can fulfill all our needs. We hear that God protects us, loves us and orders our path. Instead, we try everything else but Him! We try to fill the space that God should fill up with people (gas stations), extracurriculars (Dollar Generals) and so much more. Life has a funny way of always bringing us back to God! We always ending up needing Him. Instead of doing things the hard way, instead of getting off course, we should just go straight to God!
Remember: God is the way, the truth and the life! Don’t make things harder than it has to be!
