The main tourist attraction of Kichijoji is certainly the Inokashira Park which extends to the next stop in Mitaka and is also the place where the Ghibli Museum is located. This area is a "university district" and it is not difficult to find groups of students or young couples strolling among the shops and cafes, having picnics and romantic walks in the Inokashira park, which also houses a pond where you can rent the swan-boat. Be careful though, it is said that the Goddess Benzaiten, to whom the temple near the lake is dedicated, is jealous of the couples and throws a curse on all those couples who rent a boat at Inokashira Park: they will soon break up! It is also said, however, that among all the swan boats, there is only one male-swan that guarantees eternal love to the lucky couples who will use it… are you willing to take the risk?
