Shimokitazawa, not far from Shibuya, but also well connected to Shinjuku and Inokashira Park, can be defined bohemian, hippie, hipster,…. Is a district of creatives, with murales, specialty coffees and independent shops. From vintage clothes to creations by emerging artists, but also books, vinyls and objects. The pedestrian streets around the station are teeming with unique shops, very different from the international chains found in other areas of the city. Organic restaurants and lots of cafes, often with just the take-out option, but also street food and cocktails.
It is not unusual to come across live performances and markets, especially at the Shimokitazawa Cage, a 200sqm cage with street food vans and lights, the perfect place to spend the evening immersed in this hippie-mood.
