"We have a theory…"

This phrase. We never really thought that one day we would be "known" for a phrase. Let alone this one. Even though you could probably track us saying it back to our teenage years, we never realized it would be what it is now. 🤣

What began as curiosity in childhood, has now become special interest in adulthood: The brain. Whether it's understanding the human psyche, the physiology, the chemistry, whatever it is! If it has to do with the brain, we want to learn it.

We took a couple of years of psychology in high-school and college, most of what we have learned is from self education. We have just flat out read textbooks. 😅 We just absorb anything we can about the brain. We have absorbed enough information to know that this interest has roots in our own trauma response: Constantly trying to be as hypervigilant as possible, in order to navigate any and all social climates. 🤣🤣

Either way, it's become a big part of who we are, that we don't want to stop. And maybe we couldn't stop anyways! 😅 Our son just recently said "Your brain is just ALWAYS GOING". And he is correct. We are constantly thinking about things. Constantly pondering, which leads to us constantly researching, which leads to us constantly making theories. And when we say "we", it's mainly Libby, and Me: Ziggy! 🤪

Because that's the super interesting thing about brains: Systems, and how they do what they do! Because while all of us have a fair amount of interest in the brain, Libby and I are far more knowledgeable, and far more obsessed! 🤣 So even though everyone in the system plays a part in our theories, often times, it comes down to Libby and me, cranking out the details. Which creates an interesting information situation!

So, I do a lot of the research to back up our theories, and Libby reviews the information and we both work together to articulate the theories. So when one of us is fronting, we have no problem spitting out the details (Like how the posteromedial cortex is responsible for dissociation). But, when one of the others is fronting, it is going to take them a minute to be able to recall the right words. Like… how does that even work?!? We share a brain! How do you not KNOW the words??? 🤣 But hey, ask me what shows the kids are watching or when an appointment is- and… I'll need a moment! 🤣🤣

But that's the great part about this blog! Here we can all share our biggest passions more individually. Which means lots of theories from me! Like the theory that not only are episodic memories stored in different places in the brain in order to create alters, but also muscle memory, emotional memory, and data. Which means the information is instant for whatever alter it is stored with, but there would be a delay in retrieving it from another alter. Because instead of a direct connection, the information has to travel through an alter like Libby (a data keeper). 🤣🤪 See? Can't help it! So you better get ready for more brain theories from Zig&Lib! 🤣😅
