Firstly, we want to thank everyone who followed our journey this year on the Appalachian Trail. We especially want to thank those who supported us along the way, whether that was with encouraging text messages, comments on our YouTube videos and Instagram posts, or with donations here through our Buy Me A Coffee page. Your continued love and excitement for us and what we are doing is appreciated more than you will ever know!
Our current adventure has come to an early end. We found out a little over a week ago that Shari’s dad needed heart surgery - a triple bypass - and we made the decision to leave the trail and fly back home to be with him and family during the surgery and recovery period. We are happy to report that as of the date of this post he is doing well and everything looks right on track for a complete and full recovery! He will be back to his old self before we know it.
For those who chose to support us through coffee donations, we wanted to let you know that you helped make our time on and off trail these past few months fun and stress free. We took extra “zero days” to duck out of bad weather, had unexpected doctor visits, and wound up needing to jump on an airplane twice. We even were able to pay it forward a few times and helped out other hikers when they needed a little extra love. Because of you, these extra unplanned expenses were taken care of without worry.
What’s next? Our other plans for this year are still on track. We won’t be returning to the AT but we will be purchasing our van and working on the conversion. We will be traveling to see friends in the North West, and we need to get back to Indiana to pick up our car! There are also plans to go back to the Boston area to visit with Kris’s family (she has a milestone birthday coming up in September that her parents are pretty excited about celebrating).
So there will be more adventures and exciting changes in the near future. We would love it if you’d continue to follow along as we go with the flow and let life lead us in whichever direction it chooses. Check out our website for soon-to-be-released AT recap blog posts. Visit our Instagram page for some photos of us and our dog, Bayley. And don’t forget to check out our YouTube channel for weekly update videos. You can find all of those links by clicking here.
