Data journalist, data storytelling consultant and data literacy trainer. Currently writing about data activism & local data in Venice (Italy).
After a degree in History (University of Siena, Italy) and a MA in Communication and Information Sciences (Tilburg University, The Netherlands), I have been practicing my craft in the field of data journalism since 2014: as a trainee at an Amsterdam newspaper (Nrc.next) and as a freelancer for Italian media (Wired Italy) in 2013 and then as lead data journalist at a Dutch startup (Silk.co) in 2014 - 2016.
From 2017 I am again a freelancer: I collaborate with data activists (Inside Airbnb and OCIO, agrassroots watchdog in Venice) and I am a data/dataviz instructor at Dataninja School as well as in academia.
In all these roles I have produced data storytelling content, provided data support to journalists & NGOs, and held training sessions.
On the side, I am co-founder of "Batjo: Bits, Atoms and Journalism", a Google DNI-funded project promoting the use of data physicalization among journalists.
